EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) is a synthetic rubber membrane that's become the gold standard for flat roofs across the UK. A single sheet, fully adhered or mechanically fixed, with no seams in the field of the roof.
What is EPDM?
A synthetic rubber membrane manufactured in large sheets (up to 15m wide and 30m+ long). Most residential installations are done in a single sheet — no field seams at all.
The rubber is highly flexible (-40°C to 150°C operating range), UV-stable, and chemically inert. It doesn't pollute rainwater runoff, which is increasingly important for sustainable drainage.

Installation process
- Strip existing roof covering
- Inspect and repair deck (OSB or plywood, 18mm minimum)
- Install insulation to current Building Regulations (Part L)
- Lay EPDM membrane — fully adhered with bonding adhesive
- Form upstands at walls, parapets, roof windows
- Install edge trims and termination bars
- Water test (flood test for 24 hours)
- Register manufacturer warranty
